Colombian artist José Alejandro Restrepo's work mostly uses video from a vast collection of print media, TV footage and sound that critically problematize the relationship between image, religion and politics.

In the exhibition »variaciones sobre el purgatorio« showcased in the Art Museum of the National University of Colombia in 2011, Restrepo deals with the catholic imagery so present in the Colombian visual culture, especially in relationship to the armed conflict. The book »religión catódica« »cathodic religion« is the catalog of this exhibition and a compilation from 15 years of work of the artist. This book was awarded in 2012 with the Communication Arts Award of Excellence, and the 3^th Ibero-American Design Biennial in Madrid. Project developed for p576, art direction from Arutza Onzaga.
